How to Import Karaoke and Audio Files in Video Hoster

This article will show you how to Import MP3+g or .zip, mp3, videos, or any other Hard drive files into your Video Hoster Karaoke Software.

1) Open Video Hoster

2) Left click Import Songs then  left click Index Song Files

3) Left click KMH under the Select Type as selection.

4) Left click on ZIP or MP3G depending on the type of files you are trying to import.  This will now open the Windows Open File dialog.  Find the folder where your files are stored, that you want to import into Video Hoster.  Make sure you have the correct folder in the Look In Field, once you see the files below, left click Select.

5) This will show the files in Import Songs Dialog. If you do not see the files, then left click the check box beside Include Sub-folders this will show all files listed in multiple folders.

6) Left click one of the Song Files, to select it, then Follow the instructions on the left hand side of this dialog,  to match the Define Field order to match your File Names.

This is the MOST Critical part of importing your files to have the correct data for the Search/Songbook.

For example:

A file that is named Barefoot_Blue_Jean_Night-Jake_Owen-7128-NV.zip  would need to have the define field order set to Title-Artist-Ignore.

If the file is named KBA22792-01 – Estefan, Gloria – Santo, Santo.zip you would set the Define Field order to DiscID-Track – Artist – Title.

7) Once you have the correct Define Field order settings, select either Single or Batch depending on how many files you  have to import.  You may want to try Single first, to make sure that the Define Field Order is set correctly.

8) Make any other changes to the Brand, DiscID, Genre, Language that are needed.

9) If you are in Single Mode, when you left click Add Files it will show the files listed below.

Note: Using Batch Mode you will not see the files displayed below as you do in Single mode.

This is the most critical part, so make sure to take your time and get it right.

How to Move Video Hoster to a new system

How to move the Video Hoster Files from to a new system.

NOTE: These direction only work for Version 5.20.01 and Later. Earlier versions did not include the Backup/Restore program.

Step 1 – Backup All your Song Files, including any kma, mp3+g, kmh, zip, etc…. to an external hard drive to move them to the new computer. This will be done under My Computer, not within Video Hoster.

NOTE:  Once you have done the above, and the files are ready to be copied to the new computer, they must be copied in the exact same Folder Locations as they were on the original system. If you do not put them in the same folders, the following will not work.

Step 2 –  Open Video Hoster

Step 3 – Click the Help Menu then Backup/Restore…

Step 4 – Left click Ok to close Video Hoster. Then the Backup/Restore Dialog will open.

Step 7 -Click the Backup Button and select the Location to save your backup file. Give your File the name you wish to use, and save it to a location that you know where it is and click Save

When the backup is finished you will see the Status change to Sucess!

Now to Restore the Backed up Data on the New Computer.

Step 8 –  Open Video Hoster

Step 9 – Click the Help Menu then Backup/Restore…

Step 10 – Left click Ok to close Video Hoster. Then the Backup/Restore Dialog will open.

Step 11 -Click the Restore Button and Find the Location of the saved  backup file you created in Step 7. Open this File to use for the Restore. Once you select the File you should see Success! beside Status.  Now click Ok to close this Dialog. Then Reopen Video Hoster by double clicking the Icon.

Now the Computers you use this restore on will be identical. You have to make sure that your Song files, are located in the exact same folder on both computers. This is up to you, the customer, to where you store the files. As long as they are in the same folder, Example: C:\MTU\Hoster Songs\, on both computers it will work.

We hope this helps anyone with issues trying to move up to a new system!

Error: 0x80040702 – Failed to load DLL: _ismtu

If you see the below error message:

Description: Failed to load DLL: _ismtu
Setup will now terminate.

Do this to fix it, Left click  the Start Menu, and Shut down the computer.  This will install the Windows Updates that have been downloaded, but waiting to be installed.  Once this finishes and the computer has rebooted. Now you can install the MTU software without issue.

How to change a USB drive letter in Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, Win 8

These are the steps on how to change a drive letter for an external drive (hard drive or CD-R).  Sometimes when using USB drives, they can randomly change the letter when you plug the drive in. This can allow you to change the letter of the drive back to what your Video Hoster Database was originally built from, without having to rebuild your database.

  1. Left Click (Right click in Win 8) Start Menu\Settings\Control Panel\
  2. Double click on Administrative Tools
  3. Double click on Computer Management
  4. Under Computer Management, left click on Disk Management.
  5. Right click on the Drive that you want to change the drive letter for and select “Change Drive Letter and Paths…“.
  6. This will then open a dialog box, that will allow you to select the Drive. Once the drive that you want to change is selected, click the Change Button.
  7. You will now see another box pop up, that shows a Pull down menu on the right hand side. Select the drive letter that you want to change this drive to. Once you have done this, then click OK.
  8. You will see a dialog box pop up asking you to confirm with the following message: “Changing the drive letter of a volume might cause programs to no longer run. Are you sure you want to change this drive letter?” Yes or No? Click YES.
  9. Now close out of all other programs and your drive will now have the correct drive letter.

Disabling AudioDg.exe to help with Crash Problems

We have found an audio setting that can cause crashing in some of our programs.  These changes will help to make sure your system does not crash.  This can occur in Video Hoster, Microstudio, Karaoke Home Producer, Vogone and Keyrite.

To make sure this does not occur, turn this setting off you have it, as not all computers have this setting.

This problem is caused by the Audio Device Graph Isolation service using the Audiodg.exe program.

How to fix:

1) Right-Click on the Speaker Icon in the tray at the Bottom Right of the desktop (beside the clock).

2) Left Click “Playback Devices”

3) Click the device with the green check beside it, example “Speaker” as this is the Default Playback Device.

4) Left Click the “Properties” button

5) Left Click the  “Enhancements tab”

6) Left click to Check the “Disable All Enhancements” checkbox. Also make sure you Un-Check the  “Immediate Mode” box if you see this.  Once you have done this, left click Ok. Then close all other Dialogs that may be open, by the Red X, or by closing everything with the Ok button.

NOTE: Immediate mode does not Show on ALL computers, so you may not have it. If you do it will be to the right of “Disable All Enhancements

Video Hoster 5.33.01 Released October 29, 2014!

Hello, MTU Community!

As many of you know, just a few weeks ago we released Hoster version 5.33.01!  We’ve included a new feature that MANY of you have been asking for in the new ‘Mark Songs As Played’ feature, read more below!  Our product developers and beta testers have worked hard to continue to bring you exciting new and improved features for Hoster, making it easier and more fun for you to run your shows!  Tell us what YOU would like to see added into Hoster!  Leave requests in the comments or visit our Facebook page and leave us a note there!

Here is a Video showing how easy it is to upgrade your Current Video Hoster Software! Watch Now!

Check out the list of new and improved features!

  1. NEW – Fade Out/In for Pause/Resume – Pausing and Resuming songs in both Hoster and the Background Audio Player will now Fade Out and back In depending on the Fade settings for that player. To check the Fade setting for Hoster, go to Tools > Audio Controls…. For the BA Player, go to Settings > Fade In/Out….
  2. NEW – Mark Songs as Played – This new feature will give you a visual cue when a song has been played in the current show. Played songs will be displayed in red with a strike-thru line. They will appear in your Search, Singer’s List and Edit Singers windows. You can set this in one of four ways:
    • None – Turn this option off.
    • BookID – Mark only the exact BookID as “Played”.
    • Title Only – Mark all songs with the exact same Title as “Played”.
    • Artist & Title – Mark songs with the exact same Artist & Title as “Played”.

You make this selection in the Tools > Options… window. This feature works whether you Keep Songs After Play or not. When you close and reopen Hoster, this information is reset to start anew.

Along with this change, you can also Reset any Played Song to be displayed normally. To do this, simply right-click on the song in any of the three windows listed above, and select Mark As > Available.

Note: Since this feature uses the Red font color, if your background color is Red, you will not see the marked songs in the windows listed above.

  3. CHANGED – Playback Offset – This setting is now in the “Audio Controls” window instead of the “Options” window. It has no other changes.

     PLAYLIST

  1. CHANGED – Find Same… – The search results that you get will no longer contain the song that you clicked on in Hoster’s Playlist. This was done because you are either going to replace the selected song with a new song, or you are going to add a new song (probably not a duplicate).
  2. FIXED – Find Same… – If you replace a “PLAYED” song in the Playlist, that song will now show up as “READY”, and you can play it immediately.
  3. FIXED – Ctrl-Space to Start Play – When your Show Display is in fullscreen mode, and Hoster is hidden behind it (single monitor, e.g.), you can Start and Stop the songs by pressing and holding a “Ctrl” key and then pressing the “Space bar”.

     SEARCH

  1. FIXED – Enter Key – Clicking the “Enter” key when your cursor is in the Singers box will open or update the Singers List window, instead of adding the selected song(s) to Hoster’s Playlist.

     BUILD SONG DATABASE

  1. CHANGED – Remove Folders – If you are Removing multiple folders, Hoster will prompt you only once to choose whether the .KMH files should be deleted as well, instead of repeatedly for each folder.

     BACKGROUND AUDIO

  1. NEW – BA Player Option – You can now set your Background Audio Player to Pause the currently playing song when you start playing something in Hoster. Then when that song ends, the BA Player will Resume the same song that was paused. You also have the option to Stop the current song when Hoster starts, and Start a New Song when Hoster stops.Set this using the BA Player Settings > When Show Starts… menu option.

     SONGS DATABASE

  1. FIXED – Errors Launching Hoster – If you have ever had difficulty opening Hoster stating that your Songs Database could not be opened, this will fix your situation.
  2. FIXED – Duplicate DiscID & Track – If Hoster finds two songs with the same DiscID & Track but different BookIDs, the second one found will be Quarantined, as there is no way that it can be successfully Merged into the Songs Database.

     MARQUEE

  1. CHANGED – Automatic Marquee Update – The Marquee and SND will no longer automatically update every minute. This should make your Marquees flow a little better.

     SHOW DISPLAY WINDOW

  1. CHANGED – Double-Click to Full screen – If you have more than one monitor, the Show Display will now be set to Full screen on the monitor that does not have the main Hoster window. In other words, you can now control which monitor gets the Full screen Show Display by placing Hoster onto the other monitor.

     PREVIEW WINDOW

  1. CHANGED – Double-Click to Resize – If you have set your Preview Sizer to anything but None and double-click on the un-docked preview window, you will be unable to move or resize it until you double-click on it again.

Pirate Websites Could Shut Down

The following article appeared on infopackets.com on September 21, 2010:

New Law Could Shut Down Pirate Websites For Good by Brandon Dimmel on 20100921 @ 10:15AM EST

For Hollywood and the music industry, there’s no greater foe than online pirate sites, places where users flock together to share copyrighted movies and songs. Now, a cadre of American senators are making an effort to essentially block these illicit websites by forcing Internet Service Providers (ISPs) into doing the work for them.

The proposed law is simple: if the United States Justice Department finds a domain to be engaged in the distribution of pirated intellectual property, it would file civil action against the site. The ISP of any offending domain found to be based in the U.S. would then receive an order to shut down access to the site.

Proposed Law to Protect Intellectual Property

“…. Earlier this summer Vice President Joe Biden received plenty of media coverage when he noted: “Piracy is theft, clean and simple. It’s smash and grab.” (Source: cnet.com)”

“For those in the movie and music industries, this was finally some commitment to the idea that owning, listening to, or watching an illegally downloaded digital file is the same as shoving a CD or Blu-ray inside one’s coat while walking through a brick and mortar retailer.”

Bill Extends to ISPs, Payment Processors, More

“The law doesn’t stop with U.S.-based sites, however.

Instead, the proposed bill would give the attorney general power “to serve the court order on other specified third parties, such as Internet Service Providers (ISPs), payment processors, and online ad network providers.”

In essence, the government could prevent suspect sites from being accessed by American web visitors or getting paid through credit card transactions and marketing deals with U.S. web firms.”

So, one has to wonder,  just how will this be implemented?  I for one, trust that when I go out, if the KJ is in business, they have the legal right to play the music I am listening to.  What’s a person to do, go ask the KJ for proof they own the music they are playing? This I fear,  is opening Pandora’s box.

The government being able to limit suspected “sites from being accessed by American web visitors or getting paid through credit card transactions and marketing deals with U.S. web firms.” sounds like “big brother” is really wanting to crack down.

Having said all this, MTU has never condoned, nor will we, using pirated files.  This means…if you don’t own the CD, you don’t have the right to play it.  Period.
